The place was fairly clean with an incredibly nice staff on early shift. The room was freshly renovated and with a lovely view over Windermere village & hills. There were complementary tea and coffee, which was great.

Ask about the personalized breakfast service-it's not widely promoted but adds a lovely touch to your stay.

It was my first experience in staying at the, ellerthwaite lodge. From first entering the lobby I was greeted promptly with great enthusiasm and a want to help by my host. I found the room to be of a high standard, with the decor and ambience showing real comfort. I had breakfast, which was a true delight, the staff were all very charming and very welcoming. An excellent gem to have discovered and would highly recommend.

I went on Booked.net to find accommodation in the Lake District less than two weeks out from an early July weekend, after the one b&b I had booked wrote back to say they wouldn't allow children. Ellerthwaite was one of the few places left at that late date that was family-friendly, so I booked it without knowing much about it. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice and clean and modern it was, and how friendly the staff were towards families. It was the perfect location, within walking distance of Windermere and Bowness and near the train station.
Breakfast was somewhat simple and the service rather slow, but that was a minor issue and we were just happy they were so accommodating to families with small children.

Its proximity to tourist attractions, we visited Beatrix Potter attractions, Pencil Museum and Quaker Tapestry all within easy driving distance. Also Windermere had excellent restaurants for evening dining just a short walk from the hotel.

Perfect spot in Windermere!
Francesca greeted me so warmly, and James made breakfast super tasty. I needed a fix in my room, and they sorted it out while I explored the town-such a nice touch! The location is perfect, just a stroll to Bowness or the train station. Just wish the Wi-Fi was a bit faster.

The staff were wonderful, so helpful and friendly. We were very kindly left an easter egg outside our door on Easter Sunday. The room was lovely -one of the few places we have stayed at recently where you are provided with bathrobes. Breakfast was great. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The only thing that let it down a little bit was the fold-out couch that was our daughters bed - the mattress was very thin and you could feel the metal supports coming through from underneath which made it slightly uncomfortable.

The hotel and staff where superb , clean tidy and you tell a lot of money has been spent on on the building we would stay again even on a wet day in march.

It was very nice and well maintainted, it would have been nice if we could have enjoyed a drink on our return from a night out but there was not a bar, but they did have a lovely lounge which could have been lovely for a "night cap" there is only one pub - the Queens
